Researchers interested in accessing historical materials housed in the Winston-Salem African American Archives are required to make an appointment. Please note that at this time the Archives has limited operation and will resume scheduled appointments upon notice.
Collection materials are preserved for historical and evidential value and are often the only copies in existence. It is therefore essential that materials are handled with care. When a visitor fails to exercise good judgment, the reference archivist on staff is authorized to take precautionary action, including the refusal to allow researchers further use of the records.
